This week I went to the Salvation Army as I usually do every week or so.  I usually don't have any particular item in mind just wait for something to catch my eye.  Although I have been looking for plates.  That is plates that have not come from China.  I have an iron rack that holds three plates and I'm determined to have unique plates in it that do not say Made in China.

 On the back of the first one it says....Punch,Z.S.& G (with some kind of symbol after the G) and below that, Bavaria.
Isn't this sweet as can be. It has Gold all around the edge and I love the basket.  I put it in the top slot.

 This next plate I thought was perfect as I love herbs and all things natural.  It's an Anthemes Tinctoria.
On the back of it...Depuis 1748,. Villeroy & Boch,. Ancienne Manufacture Imperiale et Royale,. Luxembourg--Bontanica--Vitro-Porcelaine,. Garanti lave-vaisselle spulmaschinenfest,. Dishwasher safe.  Ha  So as fancy as it all is it is modern and I love it.  A very Pretty Plate.

 This is where I put them.  Isn't it nice.  I do love it for entertaining not that I do a lot of that, but hey, when you do you want something special.
Now I just have to find another one for the middle. I am in no hurry and love to look and search around.  Wish me luck. Tootles

Thoughts and Things

Doesn't this look like a great place to sit and ponder.  My Mom use to use that word a lot.  She would be pondering something.  It's a good word.  The definition is-- to consider (something) carefully and thoroughly.  Sounds like a good idea.  How many times have we made quick decisions and regretted it very much. If only we had pondered it for a while.  I say,  pick a spot, whether it's on a park bench, out here in the wilderness, beside a stream or river, or maybe even at our desk at work (don't let the boss see you pondering, I don't think he wants to pay you to ponder) or at home curled up in your favorite chair, just take the time to ponder, give it some thought.  Respect your decision enough to give it some time and consideration.  Tootles

Is Eleanor behind me ?  So says Elviria.  How they love to, not just get on my kitchen table but stay on and rest for a while.  Well, as you can see we have no food there so I give in a little.  Hey they do watch out the window for coyote's and believe me when they do see one you would swear they are dogs.  Their growl is deep and threatening.  That's my girls.  Tootles

What Fish ?

This is my sweet Elviria.  She is so loving but just the same I am glad I have a top on the fish tank.  Is this a picture or what.

We are miserable here in N. California.  I swear it has rained for almost a week and still going.  The forecast is for rain until the middle of next week.  WHAT !  I was all ready for spring.  I mean I wanted to start picking out plants for the yard, maybe have a barbecue,  Just sitting outside and enjoying the sun but NOOOOO, we have to endure all this rain.  I know, I know some say we need it will bully for them I just want the warm weather to come back.  Are you with me or what ???   Tootles

She says " A Good Morning to Ya", Life is great.
     She is my sweet cat and I know I have many pictures of her but hey, they really are cute.

Today we are having " Italian Day".  Let me explain.  I have been making bread for some time now and I have to say it's true you do get better at it as you get to know the feel of the dough anyway even though it's French bread, I am still going to call it Italian Day.  Now I have been making my own pasta.  Yes, that is right.  I had bought this pasta machine with an attachments for angel hair pasta and ravioli.  The other day I made ravioli with cream cheese and chives in the center.  They were yummy !!!  Then yesterday I made one batch of angel hair pasta.  I  cooked olive oil, fresh garlic with cut up tomatoes and mixed that together.  Oh my Golly it was yummy.  So today I am making  homemade French bread (maybe we will call it French/Italian Day), homemade angel hair pasta, with alfredo sauce and cooked vegetables and strips of chicken.  Oh my Golly Gee !!!!  Are we eating good tonight.  I know, I know what you are thinking.  This is not good for you, well, this is true but we are not having this everyday and our portions will be average so we are good to go.  I will get some pictures of this for next time.  Happy EATing !!!

Welcome to "Arcanes Portis Aveo"

Our home.  What does it mean?  Arcanes means secret or hidden.  Portis means haven or home and Aveo means Happiness and Good Health.  Now I ask you what  better name could I have picked for my Home.  Secret Haven of Happiness and Good Health.
Sadly I have noticed a couple other sites that have used my name for their site.  What they are selling has nothing to do with the meaning of each word.  Hey, that just goes to show some people just grab on to something and have not history, feelings, or meaning to what they are doing. !!


This is our Pest in the morning.  Normally I do not want any animal in my kitchen especially on my cabinets or table.  Well as you can see Eleanor is sitting on my table.  At least she isn't stretched out, or cleaning herself.  Yuk!  What a silly girl she is.  I put up with her so long then down she goes.  What is really cute is she races to my bedroom, jumps on the bed and sleeps for the rest of the day.  What a kitty !

2012 A New Year !!

I took this pic last fall just before the leaves started dropping.  I think it is so unique.  It's in my yard and this spring I am going to have a table and chairs setting under it.  I'm sure it has some stories to tell and I just might be able to coax it to share.  I'm going to  be listening.
The sun is shinning bright right now.  I live in Northern California and sometimes it does get a little nippy out.  We have had to cover some of our plants from frost and so far we have saved them.  Hoping to have a small garden again this year.  I always love tomatoes.  This year I also had pumpkin, they were small and I have to say I really enjoyed them. 

Just had to put this picture in again.  Can you see the bird with his wings spread out ?  It's just above the goat.  I did not realize I got this image until my husband was looking at the pictures.  WOW!  I was taking the pictures of all the birds in our yard as they have nests on the side of the house.  I'll put another pic up so you can see more.  Enjoy and Happy New Year !!

 Isn't this just cool !  I love the birds in the yard and am so glad they want to build their homes here with me.  We love seeing the babies with their little mouths open waiting for Mom.

This year I will take a picture of the nest and babies as long as it does not stress the Mothers .
